Mystery Bonus Video Poker

Mystery Bonus Video Poker is Jacks or Better Video Poker with a teaser.  You’ll place your bet and hit deal.  The cards will be dealt and a mystery hand will be revealed.  You can then try for the best winning hand, either by playing for the standard poker hands or to try to hit the hand revealed as the mystery hand for a bonus prize.

The pay table for the game is a basic 8/5 pay table, so not as strong as a 9/6 pay out possibility.  Whether the mystery bonus makes up for the difference in the payout is largely dependent on luck.  Since mystery bonus video poker can be played for one or multiple hands, the recommended strategy is to play for more than one hand at a time since that increases your odds of hitting a bonus hand.  Of course, since the bonus hands can be those hard to hit hands like a royal flush, you may find your chances of hitting the bonus hand as rare as your chances of landing a royal flush.

The trick with playing mystery bonus poker is that while you can follow your basic strategy video strategy but sometimes you might find you want to bend the strategy to go for the bonus hand.  For example, while the strategy recommended by the casino I’m playing at is not to hold 2 pair because you want to try for three or four of a kind, if the bonus hand it 2 pair, it may be one of the few chances you have of actually hitting the mystery bonus.

Mystery Bonus Video Poker doesn’t offer the strongest odds, but the mystery bonus might add a little interest to the game for the occasional round of play.  Hitting the bonus round might be rare but if you hit it for a high enough hand, it could be worthwhile.
